We all like to use make up at some time or another.
Here are some pointers to get it right so that you can get the best effect and look as beautiful as you possibly can.
Start with a clean face. Wash your face or apply cleanser. Next apply a primer all over the face.
Start with a base of foundation. Before you buy foundation you must try it out on a patch of skin and select the tone that suits you best. An overly dark or light foundation is an absolute no-no.
Always use your fingertips to spread the foundation evenly all over your face and neck. Don’t forget the back of your neck! Remove any excess foundation with a cotton pad.
Apply your concealer. The purpose of concealer is to even out uneven skin tone as a result of blemishes or dark under-eye circles. You can also use a concealer in a shade slightly lighter in your skin tone to brighten dark areas or high points of your face.
You can use a shade matching your skin tone to cover any red areas or over any acne or dark spots. Blend the edges of your concealer so it seamlessly blends in to your foundation.
Never use concealer or foundation on your eyelids as a base as it will crease.
Now apply a light dusting of face powder especially over the nose and areas of the cheeks which tend to be shinier. This is usually called the T-zone of the face.
You should put bronzer on your neck, face, and chest to even out your skin tone. Be sure to take a step back and make sure everything is the same colour.
When applying blush, first smile, then start on the apple of the cheek, blend the blush back towards the top of the ear, then down toward the jawline.
Always apply your brow pencil or powder to the upper portion of the eyebrow so that they look higher. This will tend to lift your face up.
Before applying lipstick make a proper outline with a lipstick pencil. If your lips are thin you might want to outline outside of your lips to give them a fuller effect. However do not overdo that.
Next, fill in the outline with a lipstick of matching colour. Lightly dust lipstick with powder to make it stay on longer. You may apply another coat on top of that if you aim for a glossy effect.
Make sure the pencil and lipstick go all the way out to the inner corners of your mouth. Be sure to press down hard as you apply.
To apply eye shadow always start with a base shadow without any shimmer that matches the lightest skin tone on your face and apply all over your lid. Over that apply the colour or colours that you want.
Get as as close to the mirror as it as possible and look down as you apply eye liner starting at the inner corner and making sure to go all the way out to the fold on the outside of the eye.
Last but not the least comes the mascara, the dressing for the eye lashes. Use sweeping movements from the base to the tips. Wait for a couple of minutes to let the mascara dry. Do not blink till then or you could risk smudging your cheeks or lids.
These are just general tips. Don’t be afraid to mix and match and experiment with colours.
Find the shades that are most flattering to your face type. If you think the image in the mirror is looking good it is! Now go out and party!
